Coastal Cleanup Day A Success
According to LessIsMore.org:
"This year's results [for Santa Barbara County] were fantastic
with the highest volunteer turnout in years! There were about 1,150
volunteers this year, 400 more than last year!"
"The weight totals aren't completely in yet, but we already know that 2,350 pounds
of trash and 1,250 pounds of recycling were collected, for a total of
3,600 poundsof debris!"
"So far the number of people is up and the weight of trash way down, which is the way
we like it! More people caring about our beaches and less trash overall."
CB Members Join Adopt-A-Highway Program
Our first group of volunteers worked the northbound side of the 101 freeway from Casitas Pass Rd. to Kim's Market in January 2012.
Group Leaders Donna Jordan, Alterio Banks, and Harry Manuras along with Bruce Daniels, Jayne Diaz, Bob Jordan, Sue Levandofsky,
Judy Mulford, Barbara and Brad Smith, and Sally Galati picked up 47 bags of trash in addition to several large items
on the first clean up day (pictured) plus another 40 bags on trash on their second clean up outing on February 26th.
Special thanks to Donna and Harry for taking the CalTrans safety class and providing volunteers with a safety video and rules.
The group picks up trash once a month on Sundays.

Some of Our Projects
Adopt-a-Spot Carpinteria Beautiful volunteers have picked up more than 10,000 (yes, TEN THOUSAND) sacks
full of litter from around our little town. That's an enormous amount of unsightly, unhealthful
trash that's NOT littering Carpinteria's streets, sidewalks and parks and NOT washing into our creeks and ocean.
There's always room for more help. Please sign up to do your “litterbit” by calling

One of the most enjoyable projects at Carpinteria Beautiful is the semi-annual Bus Bench Painting.
Originated in 1992, this innovative activity provides an opportunity for the community's youth to
“get artistic“ and to participate in a visible way.
Each year we invite children to sing carols and decorate Christmas trees
leaving Linden Plaza ready for the holidays.
Going Bagless Rally

During April Albertson's will give away 5000 reusable bags. After that, customers
who forget their bags may buy one for just 30 cents.

Reuseable Bag Program
Here's something that every one of us can do to help turn the tide
on a flood that is polluting our oceans and waterways, killing
alarming numbers of birds and sea creatures, and littering our
highways and parklands.
Attend a meeting and get a free “Remember Me” decal for your car.
Sustainable gardeners contribute to
the earth rather than take away from it.

Celebrating Our Chumash Heritage
Dedicated February 14, 2005, “La Carpinteria”, celebrates our
Chumash heritage and depicts the building of Indian tomols using asphaltum from
local beaches as a sealant. The murals, as well as the tile surround, were created
by RTK Studios in Ojai.
We think this combination of history and art is a great way to further enhance
our beautiful community and we hope to see more examples in the future.
This sporadic award is presented to residents and businesses who've made exceptional efforts to beautify and improve their properties.
Have you noticed the many commemorative tree plaques around town?
Carpinteria Beautiful's Commemorative Tree Plaque Program was created in 1992.
Since then, literally hundreds of trees have been adopted throughout Carpinteria.
This popular program has offered many Carpinterians, as
well as visitors to our town, the opportunity to honor a loved one or friend while
at the same time providing an enhancement to the community.
